I used to only take photos, but now I'm writing down the random stuff that pops in my head. Mostly it's stuff about living and working in Boston/Cambridge.

Little Women
I've always been so awed by the beauty of Asian culture.
I long to travel to see ancient temples, rice paddies, Geishas; hear traditional music of Japan, China, India and Indonesia; see performances in a Kabuki theater; join in a Japanese Tea Ceremony, and so much more!

Couch Companions
Yes, I'm a 36 year-old who still likes stuffed animals. :-)
Mabel the cow was a gift from a dear friend, and the little dog was a gift to myself. They turned out to be inseperable, and I like having them close while I'm watching TV. Call me crazy -- it's okay. :-)

Plays to the plants
This little man is two inches tall, and he's been sitting with my houseplants for years. I never realized how splintery his flute was until after I took this photo! I hope he doesn't get a sliver in his lip!

This peaceful sheep was standing next to the Highland cow which I posted previously.
I had such a feeling of glee as I stopped at this little farm, knowing I could get close to the cows. I had no idea that I'd see other animals too. This was the only sheep present, and I was grateful that she allowed me to take her picture.
NOTE: In my delirium this morning, I had forgotten that I already posted this on my blog early this month. Sorry for the repeat!

Knot in Motion
Keeping things in balance
sure isn't easy
When you're tied up in knots
and feeling kind of queasy.
I know I must slow down
'cause things are looking blurry
Get rid of this frown
and stop being in a hurry.
I must focus on the music
and look toward the light
I know I have the power
to make the future bright.

Shake it, Baby!
My maracas. Sometimes I wonder what my upstairs neighbor thinks when I play some of my louder instruments. These make more noise than you'd think!

The shy one
Here's another Highland Cow at the same location as the last cow I posted. This one didn't want to come say hello.

Illuminated Words
I had the idea for this photo after I had gone to bed, and decided to get up to take the picture. The light on "I have a dream." was from a small candle on the left.

Magnificent Mallard
Don't get me wrong -- I love all birds, and they all have nice plumage. But the green head of a Mallard is just stunning to me. I liked how you could see all the drops of water on his head.

Saturday Self Portrait
Water feature at 111 Huntington Ave. in Boston. It's a very large black marble wall with water pouring down it, and it's indoors. After adjusting the levels/contrast/color slightly, this is the effect.

Wings of stone
I took this photo a couple of years ago at the end of a nice walk through Boston Common.

Sumac Sky
This was taken on the same outing where I took the picture of the fallen tree.
At this point my fingers felt like they were going to break right off from the cold, but I was inspired by how the shrub looked against the darkening sky.

Chocolate Chip Bars
This was the Christmas treat that I made this year. They came out perfect! This was taken shortly after they came out of the oven.

Badass Birds
Here's another picture that I took on Westland Ave. on Friday. I liked the picture except for the droppings in the foreground. After a little fun with Photoshop, I decided to go a little psychedelic. Let's call it "Psychedelic Sunday", shall we?

Pigeon stairway
This is part of a sculpture on Westland Avenue in Boston, where pigeons love to hang out. Sometimes when I walk by pigeons can be seen on each of the little "stairs" on the sculpture, and I've always wanted to photograph it.

Got grass?
Here's a good one for furry Friday. This sheep was at the same farm as the cow that I posted previously.
This was the only sheep present, and he/she was quite content to munch on some grass while I snapped its picture.
She/he appears to be very wise to me for some reason. Maybe it's the gray hair on top of it's head.

Swedish Chef
Since I was a little kid watching "The Muppet Show" I've been a fan of this guy.
This was one of those little finger puppets on sale (on top of a candy stick) at Starbucks, and I couldn't resist buying it.
One day not long ago I found that my husband had stuck him into this miniature basket, and left him on top of one of our bookcases. :)
HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE!

Sunlit trees
While on a short walk this past weekend, I liked how the sun was shining on these trees. I think trees are beautiful, even when they don't have their leaves.

Unknown flower
If anyone knows what kind of plant this is, I would love to know! These were found in the newer wing of the shopping mall in the Prudential Center in Boston. They don't look real, but they are!

Clouds over Boston

Up Close and Personal
I couldn't resist posting another picture of my new friend. I realized after consulting my "Field Guide to Cows" book that this cow is a she, and not a "he". I have a habit of always calling every animal I see a "he" for some reason. One way to tell the sex of a Highland Cow is to look at the horns. If they're pointing up, it's a female, and if down it's a bull! The bulls also weigh twice as much as the females.
Holy Cow
On my way home from a shopping trip I decided to stop at this farm supply place that has had Highland Cows for years. I've always wanted to stop to look at them, and having my camera with me gave me a good excuse! I was afraid someone would come out and ask me to leave, but luckily I didn't see any people while going up to see the animals. This cow was so friendly she immediately came right up to the fence as I approached. I actually got up the nerve to pet her head, but as I was about to do so she quickly moved her head up and nuzzled my hand with her nose. This picture doesn't do her justice -- she is really beautiful "in person"!
