I used to only take photos, but now I'm writing down the random stuff that pops in my head. Mostly it's stuff about living and working in Boston/Cambridge.

Music Mural
I've always liked this mural, which is in the Back Bay area of Boston, right in the neighborhood of Berklee College of Music. This is my favorite section of the mural, which shows the magic of Louis Armstrong's music.

Message from an angel
This feather was found outside my window, sitting in the puddle left by the melting snow.

G goes outside
My husband Phil and I had a weekend of sillyness -- just lots of general goofy behavior and fun stuff. It made me realize that if we had kids, how embarrassed they would be of their wacky parents.
While giving me some Photoshop lessons yesterday, we came up with this picture of Gumby in one of my outdoor scenes I took in the morning. Gumby sure is getting around these days!

Beauty in the morning
I went out this morning to take pictures before the snow melted off all the branches. I took 65 pictures, and this was the first one. I'm glad I went outside when I did, because now the pretty blue sky that was showing earlier is all covered in clouds.

Guarding the past
This fence is in front of the Granary Burial Ground, where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Benjamin Franklin's parents are buried, along with the victims of the Boston Massacre.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to take pictures inside the burial ground itself.

In anticipation of spring
We are supposed to get yet another winter storm tonight into tomorrow, but I don't care. I hear my little song sparrow singing, and know that spring will be here before we know it.
I've been out of work for the past couple of months, and I'm afraid my brain is starting to turn to mush. I have a big interview today however, and I'm excited about it. For today I'd like to use my favorite quote by Emily Dickinson: "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all."
Have a wonderful weekend! :-)

Gumby Goes to the Beach
Yesterday the temperature was 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Today it is 13. So, through my imagination I am on a wonderful sunny beach where it's a comfortable 80. :-)

A Song in my Heart
I just had to share that my friend and neighbor, Mr. Song Sparrow has started singing! He must be looking for a mate, which really makes me happy. :-)

Blossoming
I noticed these flower buds hiding deep inside my African Violet plant on Saturday. All of my plants seem to be telling me that spring is going to sprung very soon! :-)

In Between
I took this photo back in the early winter when my husband and I went to the War Memorial Park in West Bridgewater to take photos.
I like the contrast here of the rushing water, the dry, unmoving wheel, and the stick that's caught in the middle.

Critter Prints
A critter came by
looking for a treat
He thought a nice song sparrow
would be something good to eat.
Little did he know
that his footprints in the snow
would give him nothing but cold feet.

Plant Baby
I get so excited when I see new leaves form on my plants, and I noticed four babies on this Christmas Cactus yesterday. This one measures less than half a millimeter long. I thought it would be fun to track its progress. :-)

Mr. Song Sparrow
This is just outside of my window, back when it appeared that spring was coming. Mr. Song Sparrow comes to this spot often to eat and defend the food that I put out. Sometimes juncos or other sparrows will come to eat the food, but he always chases them away. I know it's not a great picture, but it was taken through a window with a screen. This bird is very shy, so it's hard to get a picture of him. Sometimes he just likes to hang out in the bush and he watches me watching him.
