I used to only take photos, but now I'm writing down the random stuff that pops in my head. Mostly it's stuff about living and working in Boston/Cambridge.

The First Butterfly
"Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time."
~Deborah Chaskin
This is a Mourning Cloak butterfly that I saw on Easter Sunday, and was so pleased that he or she let me take this photo. I understand that these butterflies hibernate in the winter and are often the first butterflies you see in the spring.
Have a nice Friday and a wonderful weekend, everyone. :)
Beautiful. I LOVE butterflies. When my Grandma Ellie died, it was the theme of her servie to symbolize her beautiful life on earth and her new life in heaven. When I see a butterfly I always think of her and that's so comforting. I love the quote too. It meeans a lot to me as I've been having my own awaking lately. Thanks!
Squirrel girl ~~ I'm sure seeing this butterfly was a reminder from your grandmother that she's still with you. I'm so glad you stopped by again and that you liked the quote, too!
The first butterfly...oh, how wonderful! That makes me excited--if you've got them in your neck of the woods, then we should be seeing them here sometime soon...(darn these late springs, anyway). :)

Do butterflies hybernate? I thought they only lived for a few months.
